Planting day at Parr Field

P1070445Today is our first day of planting at Parr Field which also happens to be Día de San Isidro, a patron Saint of agriculture.  Today we planted with kindergarten and first grade students from Enos Garcia and Ranchos Elementary.  This event was made possible by the participation of two of our student interns, Kiko Pacheco and Miranda Romero.  Kiko gave each student some seeds for planting while I made the planting holes with a hoe.  Miranda gave each student a seed packet with instructions for the student to be able to plant their own small garden.  AIRE is hosting a photo contest for these students in hopes they will plant their garden, take care of it, and take pictures of them and their garden for a prize and access to our seed library for future planting.
